Prime Minister Ngirente attended the 6th Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-6)
Nairobi, March 01 2024--- Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente represented His Excellency President Paul Kagame at the 6th Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-6). This Assembly took place in Nairobi/Kenya from 26th February to 01st March 2024.
Prime Minister joined other Heads of State and Government in the opening of the High-level segment of the Assembly where he delivered the National Statement.
In this Statement, Prime Minister underscored the importance of adopting effective, inclusive, and sustainable multilateral actions to tackle climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution.
The Premier appealed to Member States for their support in endorsing the joint candidacy of Peru and Rwanda to host the conference on ending plastic pollution, known as "KigaLima,".
On the sidelines of UNEA-6, the Prime Minister met with His Excellency Kembo Mohadi, the Vice-President of Zimbabwe. He also held discussions with His Excellency Tomáš Taraba, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Environment of the Slovak Republic. Discussions focused on strengthening Rwanda’s bilateral cooperation with both Zimbabwe and the Slovak Republic.
