PRIME MINISTER OFFICIALLY OPENED THE AFRICAN CONFERENCE ON AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGIES
Kigali, June 10, 2025 --- Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente officially opened the African Conference on Agricultural Technologies (ACAT), taking place at Kigali Convention Center from 9-12th June 2025.
This conference held under the theme "NextGen Ag-Tech Solutions for Africa's Farmers," is organized by the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) in collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Rwanda.
In his remarks, Prime Minister emphasized the importance of leveraging technology and innovation as essential drivers of agriculture transformation in Africa.
The Premier shared with participants Rwanda’s journey to transform the agriculture sector. In this regard, he highlighted some strategic investments made to de-risk the sector and make it more attractive and profitable.
Prime Minister concluded by stressing that for Africa to build a strong, technology-driven agricultural sector, there is a need to empower young innovators for them to scale their smart farming solutions.
He also emphasized the need to de-risk agriculture to safeguard farmers from uncertainties as well as expand digital farming tools to make agriculture more efficient and profitable.
